This is our first "Explorer" route. Think of it as a shift from "floating festivals" to "floating fellowships." While you still get the signature Yacht Week community, curated events, and shared adventures, the focus here is on deep nature immersion, wildlife, and wellness. Instead of nonstop parties, you'll find silent sunset flotillas, beachside storytelling circles, and stargazing nights. It's a slower, more intentional journey designed for the wild beauty of
Baja.
The marina is located about 10–15 minutes north of La Paz city center along the highway to Pichilingue. Here’s everything you need:
Full Address:
Marina Costa Baja
Carretera a Pichilingue Km 7.5
Lomas de Palmira, 23010 La Paz
Baja California Sur, Mexico
You have two options:
La Paz International Airport (LAP)
– Around 30 minutes to the marina
– Most convenient option as it’s the closest
Los Cabos International Airport (SJD)
– Around 2.5–3 hours to the marina
– More flight options and often cheaper
La Paz Airport (LAP) is the easiest choice. Aeromexico operates daily flights, with connections via Los Angeles or Mexico City.
If you fly into Los Cabos (SJD), you’ll need to arrange a transfer of around 3 hours.
Taxi
Available outside arrivals, around a 30-minute ride. Approx. 160–250 MXN ($8–12 USD).
Uber/Didi
Available in La Paz and typically priced similar to taxis.
Pre-booked transfer
We can arrange this for you—just get in touch for pricing.
Private SUV
Luxury vehicle, direct to the marina. Around $295 USD for up to 6 passengers. Journey time approx. 2.5 hours.
Shared Shuttle
More budget-friendly option, may drop off at the Malecón station. Around $68 USD. Journey time approx. 4 hours.
Once you're at the marina or staying nearby, Costa Baja offers a complimentary shuttle into La Paz city centre with several departures throughout the day. Check the marina’s website for the latest schedule.
Yes. Because we sail within protected national parks (like Espíritu Santo), conservation rules are built into our experience. The "Expedition Code" includes:
• Respecting wildlife distances and time limits
• No chasing or surrounding animals with multiple boats
• Using reef-safe sunscreen only
• Following guide and captain directions over guest desires
• No amplified music on shore; leave-no-trace practices
We also appoint a guest "Eco-Host" per boat to champion practices like reusable bottles, waste separation, and reef-safe sunscreen. These aren't restrictions, they're what allow us to be in these pristine waters.
Yes, but they are designed to fit the environment.
• Low-key socials: Acoustic sunset circles, synchronised sundowners via VHF, and dinghy meet ups.
• Designated party moments: We have one or two higher-energy nights (like a beach party at Bonanza Bay or a raft-up outside park boundaries), with music winding down by 22:00.
• No large sound systems or all-night raves in protected anchorages. The vibe is social, curated, and respectful of neighbours and nature.
Yes, but with limits.
• Onboard speakers are fine at respectful volumes, especially when anchored away from others.
• No external speakers blasting across decks in protected anchorages or national parks.
• For our "Silent Sunset" experience, we'll provide wireless headphones or ask you to use your own with a shared playlist.
The rule is simple: You can hear your music. Your neighbours should not.
At the marina (Costa Baja): Free Wi-Fi is available at the docks and throughout the marina facilities. You can catch up on messages, post your first photos, and let everyone know your adventure has begun.
Once we're on the water: Here's what you need to know.
For safety, your captain will have reliable internet access throughout the charter. This allows them to receive real-time weather updates, communicate with local authorities (CONANP, port captains), and coordinate with our support team on shore. Your safety is always the priority.
For guests, however, internet will NOT be readily available. The remote anchorages and protected bays of Espíritu Santo and Isla Partida have limited to no cellular coverage. We deliberately do not provide guest-facing onboard Wi-Fi. Why? This is by design. The Sea of Cortez expedition is about disconnecting from the endless scroll and reconnecting with nature, your crew, and yourself. We want you present for the sunset silences, the bioluminescent night swims, and the conversations on deck. Download
your playlists, offline maps, and any must-have entertainment before you arrive.
What about emergencies? In the unlikely event of an emergency, your captain has the tools and communication channels to reach help immediately. You are never truly cut off - just intentionally offline.
Pro tip: Take the week as a digital detox. Your Instagram feed will still be there when you return to La Paz. The sea lions and meteor showers won't wait for you to finish scrolling.
You'll have set pieces unique to this expedition:
• Silent Sunset Flotilla: All boats sail to a bay with music played via headphones or low onboard speakers only. Group toast via VHF. No external speakers across decks.
• "Beach Assembly": A hosted circle on shore with a local biologist or fisherman sharing stories of how the sea has changed; guests share why they joined this expedition.
• Star-Camp Night: Sleep on deck under the Milky Way with a short astro-tour from a guide and enforced quiet/low light. (We time some weeks with meteor showers.)
We run smaller flotillas than the Mediterranean to comply with CONANP park limits and daily vessel caps in protected areas. No massive raft-ups of 20+ boats. This scarcity is part of the value, you get a more exclusive, premium experience with specialised guides.
We may designate one larger catamaran as a social hub, but overall, expect an intimate fleet.
The Sea of Cortez is "the world's aquarium." You can expect sea lions, mobula rays, dolphins, and depending on the month, whale sharks, orcas, humpback whales, and even the majestic blue whales and fin whales.
Interactions are strictly regulated. For example, sea lion snorkelling at Los Islotes is done with licensed local operators who manage group size and time limits.
We do "marine safari days" where the goal is to observe whatever appears, with strict distance rules. We never promise guaranteed animal encounters; we promise ethical viewing.
Your ticket includes:
• 7 nights on your chosen yacht with a professional skipper
• All park fees and per-person conservation fees (built into ticket price, not an extra)
• Curated events (silent sunset, beach assembly, stargazing)
• Select guided activities (e.g., sea lion snorkel with a licensed local operator)
• A "give-back" contribution (beach clean, monitoring session, or donation built into ticket price)
Not included:
• Flights
• Provisions (food and drink)
• Cash kitty for fuel
• Skipper tip
• Optional add-ons like private dive charters or whale shark excursions
This route is perfect for Yacht Week alumni who want to evolve the experience, as well as new guests who care about ecology, diving, photography, and wellness. You should be open to early starts, quiet nights, and a deeper connection to place.
If you're looking for a club crawl, this isn't it. If you want "IYKYK" stories about sea lions and stars, you're home.
We are diversifying our portfolio to lead in purpose-led travel. This route is a pilot for future expeditions in sensitive areas.
We work only with SEMARNAT/CONANP-certified charter partners and captains - especially for activities like whale shark encounters that require specific training and separate vessel licensing.
Every guest directly funds park fees, local guides, and enforcement in one of the planet's most biodiverse seas. It's the right way to evolve.
