FAQs

Where does Yacht Week Thailand start and finish?

It's a round trip from Yacht Haven Marina on the north tip of Phuket, boarding Saturday afternoon and returning Friday afternoon. Yacht Haven is about 30 minutes from Phuket International Airport (HKT). Your yacht's exact location is confirmed in the Key Info section of your booking.

How do I get from the airport to Yacht Haven Marina?

A taxi from Phuket International Airport (HKT) to Yacht Haven Marina takes about 30 minutes and costs around THB 500 to 800 (about $15 to $25). Taxis run 24/7 from the stand outside arrivals. If you're flying into Bangkok (BKK), take a domestic flight to Phuket, about 1 hour 25 minutes and THB 1,000 to 2,500 ($30 to $75) depending on the airline, then a taxi from there.

Which islands does Yacht Week Thailand visit?

From Phuket the fleet sails south through the Andaman Sea to Phi Phi, Koh Lanta and Railay, in that order, before returning to Phuket. Phi Phi for beach parties and the Phi Phi Don market crawl, Koh Lanta for the swim into the Emerald Cave, Railay for the limestone cliffs and cliff-top dining. Exact stops are confirmed in the Yacht Week app and can change with the weather.

What's the weather like in Thailand in December?

Hot and sunny, around 26 to 30°C with the sea at about 27 to 28°C. December is the start of the dry season in the Andaman, so expect mostly clear days with the odd passing shower.

Is Yacht Week Thailand a party route or a relaxed one?

Both, and the most party-focused of the long-haul routes. Beach parties at Phi Phi and Railay and dinghy parties in the Koh Hong lagoon sit alongside sunset yoga, hikes, snorkelling over coral reefs, market crawls and beachfront Thai massage.

What's different about Yacht Week Thailand compared to the Med routes?

Warm-water tropical sailing instead of Mediterranean: limestone cliffs, jungle lagoons and coral reefs in place of medieval towns. You'll swim through the Emerald Cave to a hidden lagoon, snorkel over reefs, eat street food on Phi Phi Don and dine on a cliff top at Railay. The fleet is smaller than Croatia or Greece, so it's a closer-knit week.

Do I need sailing experience for Yacht Week Thailand?

No. Every yacht comes with a professional skipper who handles all the sailing, mooring and anchoring. Join in if you want to, or don't touch a rope all week.

What's included in the price of Yacht Week Thailand, and what's extra?

Included: seven nights on your yacht, a professional skipper, all events and parties, DJs, final cleaning, linen and towels, and the dinghy. Classic and Premium Catamaran cabin bookings also include a host and on-board food (six breakfasts, six lunches, two dinners).

Extra: flights and the airport taxi, food and drink on the yacht for full yacht bookings, the cash kitty your skipper collects on day one (port fees, fuel, water, water taxis and the refundable deposit, with anything unspent returned), eating and drinking out, dinners for your skipper and host, crew tips, and all activities ashore: snorkelling trips and kit hire, Thai massage, yoga, the cliff-top dinner and the market crawl.

Is food included on Yacht Week Thailand?

Only on cabin bookings. Classic and Premium Catamaran cabins include a host who cooks six breakfasts, six lunches and two dinners. Full yacht bookings don't include food; you can add a host, but the host's fee doesn't cover the food, and you'll provision the yacht near the marina on the first day.

Can I book Yacht Week Thailand on my own or as a pair?

Yes. Book a cabin and you'll join a catamaran of six to eight guests with an even gender ratio. You'll meet your yachtmates, skipper and host in the Yacht Week app about two weeks before departure. Groups usually book a full yacht.

When does Yacht Week Thailand run?

One week only, 12 to 19 December. It's the tropical option in the middle of the northern winter, and with a single week it sells out early. Prices are shown on the route page.

Do I need a visa for Thailand?

Thailand has its own entry requirements, which vary by nationality. Check the rules for your passport before booking flights. Bring your passport to check-in.

What time is check-in and check-out on Yacht Week Thailand?

Boarding is from 4pm Saturday at Yacht Haven Marina; your skipper confirms the exact time and meeting point in the Yacht Week app. Complete online check-in before you travel or you may be refused boarding. The fleet returns Friday around 3 to 4pm; you can sleep on board Friday night but must leave by 8am Saturday. Book flights home for Friday evening or Saturday.

What is the average age, and is there an age restriction?

The average age of our guests is 30; however, we have a range of attendees varying from 20 to the late 30s and beyond.

Please note that the minimum age to join our events is 20 (or at least 20 years old in the year of travel).

We are confident that, regardless of your age, you will have a memorable time on the water!
